THE O
MAHONY SOCIETY

Obituary
Peter Cullen Tynan O Mahony, 69 of
Bray, Dublin, Ireland died Dec 5, 2000. Peter
Tynan as he was known to most of the membership was the man who took over the O
Mahony Society after the death of the founder of the Society, Eoin (The Pope) O
Mahony. They were second cousins. Peter started and edited the first of the O
Mahony Journals and established a standard of excellence that was a mark of his
writing and creative ability. Divergent paths of endeavor and ill health kept
Peter from being active in the Society in recent years but due to his work in
the Society he was granted a Lifetime Honorary Membership. We were always most
pleased to have him join with us at the Gatherings. Peter had many friends in
the USA and Europe, as he was always ready to talk about the O Mahony
and related Clans. May he rest in peace. Peter leaves his wife Mary, who is
well remembered by many of the old timers. We hope to acquire his memoirs one
day. Peter will be missed by his friends in the Society.
